Karen Cumming is a longtime journalist who once made her living telling other people’s stories on CHCH TV and CHML Radio. She has a pretty interesting story of her own now. Karen is one of “The Mars 100” – 100 people from around the world who have made it through to the final round of astronaut selection in a legitimate mission to colonize the red planet (www.mars-one.com).
The prospect of leaving Earth for good has given Karen the unique chance to see the planet through new eyes and consider the things we do well here and the things we could improve on. She recently went back to school to study Workplace Wellness and Health Promotion, and has created a website designed to promote mindful living, meditation and self-care. Find her at karencumming.com.
Karen blogs about positive mental attitude and focusing on what is good. She has recently written feature articles for The Hamilton Spectator and The Toronto Star about her adventures at an eco village in Scotland, a Buddhist monastery in France, and her experience of the book, “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up.” Writing these stories taught her lessons she needed to learn about self-love, kindness and compassion. Could these things be the key to happier employees and a happier Earth? Roger that, Houston.
